1536-well DRUG-seq: scaling transcriptomics for high-throughput drug discovery

Tuesday, Nov 10 2026

16:00 - 17:00 CET / 10:00 - 11:00 EST

Online

Transcriptomic profiling can help drug discovery teams identify hits, investigate mechanisms of action, and prioritize compounds. However, conventional RNA-seq can be difficult to apply across large screening campaigns, while targeted assays such as qPCR capture only predefined genes.

In this webinar, scientists from Nuvisan and Alithea Genomics will present an end-to-end workflow for transcriptomic screening in 1536-well plates. Combining Nuvisan’s ultra-high-throughput screening capabilities with Alithea Genomics’ MERCURIUS™ DRUG-seq technology, the workflow spans cellular assay development and compound treatment through library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis.

The speakers will share performance data comparing the 1536- and 384-well formats and discuss how to design scalable experiments that generate robust, interpretable results. They will also explore how transcriptomic profiling can be combined with genetic perturbations and complementary phenotypic readouts such as Cell Painting.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • How an end-to-end 1536-well DRUG-seq workflow operates, from cellular assay development to data analysis
  • How data generated using the 1536-well workflow compare with results from the established 384-well format
  • Which experimental variables have the greatest influence on the quality and interpretability of high-throughput transcriptomic data
  • How to balance sensitivity, replication, data quality, throughput, timelines and budget when designing a screen
  • How transcriptomic profiling can be combined with genetic perturbations and phenotypic readouts such as Cell Painting
  • When the 1536-well format offers a meaningful advantage—and when a 384-well design may remain the better choice

Riccardo Dainese

CBO and co-founder

Riccardo is the CBO and co-founder of Alithea Genomics.

Before that, he completed his PhD in Bioengineering and Microfluidics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in the Laboratory of Systems Biology and Genetics run by Prof. Bart Deplancke.

During his PhD Riccardo has worked on and co-developed a number of microvalve-based and droplet-based microfluidic devices with genomic applications, such as Smile-seq, FloChIP, DisCO all of which have been patented separately and published in top-tier journals such as Nature Methods and PNAS.

Before his PhD, Riccardo obtained a Master’s degree in Nanotechnology at Chalmers University (Goteborg, Sweden) and a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino (Italy).
